Welcome to Chicago and Amsterdam and Los Angeles and London! Taylor Swift is leaving New York City and hitting the road for her upcoming 1989 World Tour, the singer announced on Monday, Nov. 3.
"So yeah, #The1989WorldTour is happening!!" Swift, 24, tweeted. "I CANNOT WAIT!"
The "Welcome to New York" singer will embark on the international tour on May 20, 2015, kicking off the months of performances with a show at Bossier City, La.'s CenturyLink Center. She will then hit other U.S. cities before going abroad in June, making stops in Germany, Scotland, the UK, and the Netherlands.
Swift returns to North America in July, playing shows in Canada and subsequently arriving stateside for a July 11 concert at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium. The Grammy winner is currently scheduled to wrap the tour in Tampa, Fla. on Oct. 31, 2015.
The chart-topping crooner will tour in support of her well-received fifth studio album 1989, which made its debut on Oct. 27. Led by the hit single "Shake It Off," the album is projected to sell 1.3 million copies in its first week, making it the highest-performing record since 2002, when Eminem moved 1.322 million copies of The Eminem Show in its first week.
The 1989 World Tour will begin less than one year after Swift completed her last international tour. She played the final show of The Red Tour in Singapore on June 12, 2014.
Swift found new blood for her upcoming shows, recruiting up-and-coming Australian singer Vance Joy for her North American concerts, and enlisting "Life of the Party" performer Shawn Mendes for select dates.
